Abidjan Port

Port of Abidjan is consolidating its position as a leading logistics hub in West Africa, with container throughput surpassing 1.5 million TEUs annually, driven by infrastructure expansion and increasing regional trade demand.

The port has undergone major modernization projects, including the expansion of its container terminal and the construction of a second container terminal operated in partnership with global logistics players. These investments have significantly improved operational efficiency, reduced vessel waiting times, and increased handling capacity.

Abidjan’s strategic location and strong connectivity make it a critical gateway not only for Ivory Coast but also for landlocked countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. Improved road and rail links are further strengthening its role in regional supply chains.

With growing competition from ports like Tema and Dakar’s future Ndayane port, Abidjan is positioning itself as a high-performance logistics hub capable of handling increasing volumes while maintaining efficiency. The port’s continued expansion reflects the rapid growth of trade and logistics activity across West Africa.
