Port of Tema is accelerating its digital transformation, significantly reducing cargo dwell time and improving overall logistics efficiency in Ghana’s supply chain.
Through the implementation of advanced digital systems, including paperless clearance processes and integrated port community platforms, Tema Port has streamlined operations between customs, port authorities, and logistics stakeholders. These improvements have reduced cargo clearance time from several days to significantly shorter processing periods.
Handling over 1.9 million TEUs annually, Tema Port is one of West Africa’s most important trade gateways. The digitalization effort is helping reduce bottlenecks, increase transparency, and lower logistics costs for importers and exporters.
As African trade continues to grow, digital transformation is becoming a key driver of efficiency in supply chains. Tema’s progress positions Ghana as a leader in smart port operations and sets a benchmark for other ports across the continent.
